Britney Spears Exercise - 1 - Pre-production

At the start of Monday's Second lesson last week, Pete announced that we were going to attempt at making our own version of the Music Video for Britney Spears - Hit Me Baby One More time.

At first we all were reluctant to the idea because it meant that a large portion of us were going to have to dance infront of the camera, and none of us really liked the song enough to want to re-make it. But we were going to have to, so we set about doing it.

At the Start of the exercise we all sat round and discussed who would be best suited for the three roles, Director, Assistant Director and Animatic Editor. After hearing what everyone thought of each other playing those roles, Pete decided on James, Director. Kirk, Assistant Director and Hayden, Animatic Editor.

Once everything had been sorted out we went about drawing a storyboard from the original video, each of us in pairs watching the video and drawing 8 different frames from the shots. I worked with Matt L and did frames 9 - 16.

Once everyone had done all of the frames, they were then digitized (by taking photo's of them) and put onto Hayden's laptop so that he could work on turning them into an animatic for us to work from.

Here is the Animatic:
